Matt is originally from Levin in the Horowhenua, whom he represented in his Hatch Cup years.

He moved to Palmerston North Boys High School early 2013, where he spent Year 10-13 in the 1st Xl side; finishing as captain in his final year. In his final two years of high school, he represented Central Districts Under 18’s in 2016 and 2017 and was named in the New Zealand Under 18 Men’s side in 2017.

After a year's break where he did his OE in the United Kingdom in 2018, he returned to Palmy

for a year of university. During that year he represented Central U21’s and fortunately was named MVP for the 2019 season.

Now, Matt has made the move to North Harbour due to university and Central disbanding its region and is now playing his first year for ABC in the Prem 1’s Men’s side as a defender.
